Natalie J Hannan

A/Professor. Natalie Hannan, PhD, is a NHMRC CDF1 Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on understanding the pathophysiology of major pregnancy complications. She leads a dynamic team dedicated toward the development of novel therapies for serious pregnancy complications, with a clear focus on translation. Her research has been recognized in many ways including the award of three NHMRC Project Grants (as CIA), a further three as co-CI, an NHMRC ECF, a VESKI Inspiring Women Fellowship, and an International Federation Placental Associations Andree Gruslin Award and most recently an ARC Future Fellowship. She has >110 peer-reviewed publications. A/Professor Hannan is the current president of the Australian New Zealand Placental Research Association, Executive member for IFPA and Associate Editor for the Reproduction journal. She is passionate about communicating her research to the public, and was awarded a Young Tall Poppy award (2010); and selected as a Fresh Scientist (2006). As a VESKI Inspiring Women Fellow Natalie is an ambassador for Women in STEM and is involved in initiatives to reduce the gender inequity in STEM. A/Professor Hannan in the Associate Dean Diversity and Inclusion, for the Medicine, Dentistry and Health Science Faculty, University of Melbourne, she leads many initiatives to enhance equity, diversity and inclusion.
